20 kW Automatic Generator Installation
I wish to most highly recommend the services of Evergreen Electric of Califon, NJ and, particularly, of its dynamic and responsible president, Dave Como. I recently had Dave install a 20 KW generator at our house in Tewksbury Twp., NJ. I gave him the specifications for the various items I wanted the generator to run and Dave got back to me almost immediately with the recommended solution and delivered the installation on schedule.
As a retired electrical engineer myself, I could see that he had thoughtfully analyzed the various possibilities and had come up with the best solution. Dave himself has a degree in engineering and is a Certified Professional Engineer. He has the know-how and, in addition, is always available to come, without hesitation, to our home for help or consultation -- just with a mere phone call on our part. He's also a nice guy.
My wife and I went away on vacation and he got the job done by the time we returned. Just in time for Sandy! When we got back, he spent time with us showing us how to operate and maintain the installation. I recommend him most highly.

Over the past 10 years we have performed dozens of electrical projects including low voltage lighting around their pool area, patio area and driveway, recessed lighting, chandeliers, fans, electronic switching, flood lights and many other projects.
We performed several electrical projects including a full kitchen renovation, 200 amp service upgrade and many other smaller jobs.

Dave Como, president of Evergreen Electric, is one of the most reliable, reasonable and efficient contractors I have ever used. He's done a number of different jobs for us, including low voltage outdoor lighting, bathroom venting, installation of new fixtures, consolidating electrical switches for outdoor lights, and repairing an outdoor electrical terminal that had been run over by a lawnmower. Dave and his partner Steve are courteous, friendly, neat, and a pleasure to work with. I would recommend them to anyone, and will certainly use them again myself.
14 kW Automatic Generator Installation
In late July of this year, I contacted David Como at Evergreen Electric inquiring as to the installation of an electric generator. He come over, looked over my situation and explained my options – including a completely automatic unit hooked up to my home's natural gas supply. I had no knowledge of such an arrangement, but was extremely interested.
I told him we were leaving in mid-September for an extended motor trip, and if he could have it installed by then, do it. He could and did, including all arrangements with folks like the township for permit and inspections and the plumber to run the gas line.
We left on September 13 and were gone for over two weeks. There was no problem and every Monday the generator self-started, analyzed itself, ran for 20 minutes and shut itself off. Then came Superstorm Sandy and 11 days of the entire neighborhood being without power, except for us. Great job by Evergreen, great timing and minimal inconvenience during those eleven days. David did what he said he would do on the schedule he provided. We couldn't be happier with the result.

Today was the day we experienced the completion of our Kohler Emergency Generator that we have looked forward to since we initiated the project several months ago. I note here that such an installation involves many complex steps that required coordination and experience dealing with township officials, sub-contractors, equipment manufacturers and start-up service providers. I must tell you that you were outstanding in making the arrangements needed and all of the people who worked under you were extremely courteous and informative in answering questions that arose during the process. I would not hesitate to recommend you as a very capable and competent electrical contractor to anyone based on my experience. Your attention to detail is an exceptional quality that you displayed in the conduct of the work from layout to startup. We did experience some weather delays and other problems beyond your control but you moved ahead quickly to keep the worksite clean and neat. My knowledge as a project manager during my working career bore out to me that you make every effort to succeed in producing excellent and safe results because you have a well-thought out approach to the work from prior experiences (no short cuts). The township officials who inspected your work at our home spoke highly of you and that was nice to hear as well.
My experience with Dave Como and his electrician Steve was nothing but positive from start to finish. I found them to be courteous, professional, communicative and exceptionally neat and conscientious. I highly recommend them. After contacting several unresponsive electricians who didn't return phone calls or follow through with an estimate, I was fortunate to have Dave's company recommended to me by a trusted friend who had used Evergreen Electric's services previously. My mother needed a variety of electrical repairs and improvements to her condo (adding under-cabinet lights, 2 new light fixtures, and a new outlet; replacing worn-out bathroom exhaust fans, fixing a faulty ceiling fan installation, stabilizing several loose outlets and adding GFI's). First, Dave was prompt with providing an estimate. We made him aware that we were cost-conscious, and he worked with us throughout the process to recommend appropriate solutions that would help keep costs down. I was at my mom's condo during the 2 days when they were working there, and they made a point to confer with me to get my input or approval on things as they went along. I was also blown away by how neatly they worked! I expected (and dreaded) that the faux-finished kitchen walls would require a lot of spackling and repainting afterwards, because another electrician had told us he'd have to do a bunch of cutting into the walls to install the under-cabinet lights. Not so. Dave & Steve expertly snaked the wiring up from the basement and through a tiny hole located in the cabinet. They left no trace of dirt or mess behind them in any of the areas where they worked.
Extraordinary electricians! Evergreen Electric was just at my home for the past two days updating a few lighting and outlet fixtures. Upon my initial phone call to Dave, I left a message and he called back within the hour (during a holiday weekend)! I explained that I was interested in having recessed lights installed in my dark and overly cozy family room. I also wanted a light installed in my walk-in pantry as well as a few outlets added to the house. Dave was polite and prompt in coming out to my home that same afternoon to take a look and give me some design ideas. His formal estimate followed a day or two later via email. After several email exchanges to iron out the particulars, Dave and Steve came out to complete the work. They were both hard working and precise. They showed pride in their work by pre-marking the locations for each of the recessed lights to determine the best design option, spreading large drop clothes, spackling several times and vacuuming every speck of dust before they left. The men checked with me regarding exact locations of new outlets as well a switch placement/color before proceeding with the project. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the results. It was all completed in a timely manner. Not only do I have (1) bright, cheery, and large-looking family room, (2) a lit pantry, and (3) several new outlets, I had the pleasure to work with friendly, honest, and professional individuals in my home. I will not hesitate to call Evergreen Electric the next time we need electrical help!
Dave and his assistant at Evergreen upgraded the electric service in our house. The installation was well thought out and done neatly. The job was completed at the price quoted which was lower than the other contractors we contacted. All communications and questions during the whole process were handled promptly. Dave was very professional and personable in all of our interactions. Even the inspector commented on his fine workmanship. We are very pleased with a job well done!

Between 2009 and 2011, we were part of their $2.5 million dollar home renovation project in Mendham, NJ that utilized every aspect of our talents. The project included a high end kitchen renovation, a 4,000 square foot finished basement with home theater, gym, recreation room and bar. All 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms were either gutted or renovated along with almost every room in the house. The attic was converted into a 1,000 square foot luxury office space. We installed over 400 recessed lights, dozens of chandeliers and in excess of 130 landscape lights as part of the 2 year renovation project.
